Teef!

Yes, here come the teefers!  Stay tuned...

The Wave.

Elbow, elbow, wrist wrist wrist!
(I swear we did not teach her this--she just started doing it spontaneously yesterday.)

Philadelphia.

Hi!  Welcome to the new and improved Bitchy Koala!  The last one was just too schmancy for its own good, and though Mr. Tea gave it his best tecchy effort, it was to no avail.

Hopefully, this one being linked to lots of other blogs, will NOT just poop out.  Glad you found us, let's get on with it.

So, this weekend we had the pleasure of a visit from a dear friend, C.  It was fabulous to see her.  We had the chance to talk each other's ears off, solve the worlds crises, and discuss (once again) what the hell we're going to do when we grow up.  And all in a weekend!  But not only that, she also was able to give me a new appreciation for my adopted town.

We poked around the historic district, old town, Society Hill...all some of the cuter areas of the city.  I was reminded that Philly does have a lot going for it--you just have to put a little more effort into exploring.

C. has a lot of experience w/ babies between nannying and babysitting, and knew to move in gently when getting acquainted w/ a nine-month old.  Her tentativeness paid off.  By Sunday afternoon, she and Booboo were chatting like old friends.

Here's some pics of our afternoon in Historic Philly:

A beautiful narrow street, typical of Old City.  Terribly picturesque, especially on a shady summer day.

Teething is no fun at all, as you can tell from Booboo's angsty expression here.  Luckily, C.'s purchase of a swank popsicle maker-thingy was just the way to get some relief!

At the fountain in Washington Square.  I think Booboo just gave me a raspberry, hence the surprise on my face.

Booboo and C., getting acquainted.

One more gorgeous Rowhouse shot.

Sunday, we were all pooped, and despite talk of picking blueberries at a farm, after a nap, decided to take it easy instead.  Good thing, too, since that afternoon, a huge torrential electrical storm came out of nowhere.  We got to see it roll in while we were safely tucked away under the porch roof.  HUGE thunder.  Booboo was totally non-plussed.  Perhaps it's spending your first 9 months in the hood, (with sirens as your constant companion) but this babe is not rattled by much...

Booboo and C.--blowing raspberries at eachother.

Fully bonded.

And here is Booboo and I in front of our house, right before we took C. back to the Chinatown bus.  (only $10 each way, don't forget, you New Yorkers!! )
