Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Daddy Kisses.

Happy Birthday to You!

Mr. Tea's birthday was yesterday.  We celebrated with a late night movie (Batman, of course) and cake!  Booboo's first, and she really enjoyed it.  It was good preparation for her upcoming birthday, in just a couple months.  (GULP!)

In other Booboo News, she has started to feed herself for the first time.  Two days ago it had to be long strips of toast, today it seems nothing is safe from her pincer grasp.

The train, the train!

The train pulls into the station...

Mommy's home!

We have a new routine.  Booboo and Gma Lala come to greet me every day after work.  It's lovely to see her smiling face the minute I get off the train, I really enjoy it.  And the walk back gives us a chance to chat, and enjoy the last of the late summer weather.

School Picnic.

Booboo holds on tight to the winning basketball trophy.

Wednesday was the annual school picnic at my work.  Booboo came along, and enjoyed herself immensely.  She had her first taste of water ice, and really enjoyed hanging out with all her work aunties.  At the annual basketball game, (Administration vs. Students) she cheered from the sidelines, and got a chance to hold on to the winning trophy.  The old fogies, (ur, I mean the Administration) won.

More Longwood Gardens...

Enjoying the Children's Garden.

Concord Grapes.

(Just imagine Booboo floating on a lilypad...)

Longwood Gardens.

Gma Lala, Booboo and I took one last excursion with her cross-country traveling companion, Gma Bean, (and her lovely friend, K, who turns out to be a G-town neighbor,) to the amazing and beautiful Longwood Gardens.  Just incredible!  Gma Lala and I had visited the place a couple early springs ago when Booboo was just a wee bean in the belly.  The outside grounds had felt like winter then, even though the conservatory itself was amazing.  Today we got to experience it all, including some unbelievable water lily displays.  Booboo's favorite was all the fountains and other water sculptures and monuments.  As long as there was water dripping, spurting, gysering, showering, she was quite happy!

Toys!

Gma Lala brought toys with her, compliments of some of her friends back home.  Here are two new favorites.

Gma Lala.

Gma Lala has arrived!  We are all thrilled she is finally here, and none could be more pleased than Booboo herself.

Crawling update.

Just spoke to Mr. Tea. He said that Booboo woke up on her hands and knees, slightly half asleep, and then once she woke up, flopped onto her belly. So her subconscious knows she can crawl, even though her conscious self is still working it out! She also has two bug bites on each side of her forehead that look like they should be sprouting horns any second...I will keep you updated.

Also, there must have been something in the planets about reconnecting w/ old friends... I got a call (missed it, but she left a long message) from C. last night, my good friend from Sweden. It was wonderful to hear her voice, even if we didn't get a chance to connect in person. And at the same time, I reached out to an old friend J. who lives in Austin, TX. Whose blog I had a chance to read, and still sounds like her lovely poetic self. Nothing like new-fangled technology (and babies!) to keep us all connected...

An update from Grandma Lala...I talked to her this morning, and she is on the road, making her way east! (see her blog (link on the sidebar) for a more detailed recap of her trip.) This time a week from Friday she will be here in Philadelphia, and not a moment too soon, if Booboo's new tricks are any indication!! We are looking forward to having her!

Newborn.

Congratulations J & S! And Welcome to the World, Aidan William!

Born 8/13, exactly 10 months after Miss Booboo.

May you enjoy the process of getting to know one another.

Harley Girl.

So I must wax poetic for a moment about Booboo's Harley t-shirt, mostly because it's the first thing I bought for her, when she was a mere whiff of a bean in her mama's belly.  We didn't even know if she was boy or girl yet.  And here it is, fitting perfect.  Papa now works at the Woodstock Harley Dealership after a life-long love affair with motorcycles...so it's a rightful inheritance.

The All-Mighty Baba.

The Face.  This is the face I've tried to capture for weeks...and I finally nailed it two days in a row!  She doesn't make this face because she hates what I'm feeding her, (thank goodness,) it seems totally unrelated to food, and often happens while playing, not associating w/ food at all.  In fact, we are not sure where it came from, but always occurs with a major intake sniff...does it clear the sinuses?  makes a statement of fact?  we may never know...

The Face This Morning.

Peekaboo.

Booboo's milestones are coming fast and furious now...peekaboo, mama, dada, (still just sounds, but we can pretend), the wave, turning pages in her favorite books...the army crawl still hasn't gotten off the ground, so to speak; I think she's waiting for her Grandma Lala for that.

Teeth!  Don't forget the teeth!

in less than 3 months, we will have a 1 year old.  Incredible.

Babycakes.

Booboo's first pancake!  And with blueberries from the Amish at the farmer's market just around the corner...though the child will put everything else in her mouth, she somehow has yet to figure out the concept of picking up food and feeding herself.  Then again, if you had someone hand-feeding you bits of yummies, would you bother?
