Amish Country.

Last weekend a visit from D was a perfect excuse to check out Amish Country with the Boo. Gma Lala has been twice already, but she graciously agreed to be our official tour guide for the day. The best part was just the bucolic peace of the beautiful tidy Amish farms, and the buggy ride, of course. Booboo charmed the rest of the passengers right off the bat, and was particularly excited to get her own lemonade half-way through the trip. It was a fascinating look at a people who seem to understand what living simply is all about. Even in this technology-driven age.

Amish farm fields. A little blurry, the car was moving. but you get the idea.

Bunad.

Many years ago, when Gma Lala and Grandpa B were traveling in Europe, they bought a very special Norwegian costume (called a Bunad--hey, they even have their own flickr group--see here. for the little teamarie to wear. Well, since Gma Lala has managed to keep it in very good condition, and since Booboo is just about exactly her mama's size, despite the fact that it was a hot and sticky August Sunday, we decided to do a photo shoot. With not a whole lot of success, I might add. The best shots are after the bunad was removed. The relief was palpable on Booboo's face. We'll bring it out again at Christmastime, hopefully she won't be too big for it already--it fits her perfectly right now

Summertime.

The last couple weeks have been pretty low key. We've been getting big thunderstorms every weekend, so beachtime has not happened as much as we'd like. Lots of playing on the porch with buckets and ducks, (and some sand from the beach--shhhhh! don't tell!) and building towers with the blocks is one of Booboo's new favorite games.

Serious Boo.

Bathtime w/ Mohawk! Cool baths are a great way to wind down with this sticky-icky weather. We try to make it a habit most days.
